Title An Amateur Befogged [self-portrait]
Date 04/06/1938
Year Range from 1931
Year Range to 1940
Description This self-portrait shows a rumpled Elton sitting surrounded by his cameras and equipment reading "How to Make Good Pictures - a Book for the Every-day Photographer" by the Kodak Company. Elton titled the photo "An Amateur Befogged" and it was for print in an unknown publication. There are three cameras in the photo - one in his lap, one to the left of his right shoulder and one in front of the book he is reading. There is photography equipment on the desk such as film and filters. The film at the corner of the desk says "Kodachrome K 828". His rolled sleeves, loosened tie, ruffled hair, the scattered equipment, and the "how to" book combine to express his "befogment."
