Title Wesley Lake between Asbury Park and Ocean Grove
Date 8/24/1919?
Year Range from 1911
Year Range to 1920
Description Wesley Lake between Asbury Park and Ocean Grove. Various types of boats dot the lake's surface. To the left is Ocean Grove. On the right, in Asbury Park, is the Palace with their ferris wheel, built between 1893 and 1895, that was 67 feet tall with an observation platform that could be reached from the topmost point of the wheel allowing unparalleled views of both towns and the Atlantic Ocean. The low building before the wheel housed their famous carousel made by Charles I. D. Looff, world-renowned maker of amusement park rides (including Coney Island) and creator of the Santa Monica Pier in California. The 70 horses on the carousel were hand-carved marvels. In between the ferris wheel and the carousel was the "crystal labyrinth".
